representation, revisited

Here is a little self-portrait I made recently. It is on thick watercolor paper, and despite being representational, it was “drawn” non-traditionally. Rather than making marks on the paper with pencil or other traditional media, I used sandpaper and scratched the lines and forms into the paper to varying degrees. The picture to the above left is the result, the picture to the above right is what happened when I brushed a couple of layers of vanilla on top.
