recent sketch – “sunflower no. 3”

Acrylic and gouache on cardboard.  14.5″ x 14.25″.

This is a study of a sunflower that was cut and set up in a bottle out on my balcony at the end of last summer.  The same flower was included in the composition I painted on the wall at the Commissary (see previous posts).  I painted this study in order to figure out how to approach painting the large flowers in the mural.
