This is a painting that I did recently. It is gouache and acrylic on a 17″ x 20″ piece of plywood. It is stylistically a sort of tipping-of-the-hat to my late friend Nick Womeldorff. He used to collect pieces of scrap wood that he would find in the streets of Brooklyn and did a lot of his work on those. The subject of this painting is a gold finch, which we have a lot of in late summer / early fall around here. This one was perched on a power line in front of my apartment.
