When David Bowie passed away a couple days after his birthday this past January, it came as a bit of a shock. I immediately started putting together the above collage of some of my favorite iterations of Bowie. I also wrote a pretty long piece on Bowie and what he meant to me personally. Unfortunately, during the writing and editing processes, my computer crashed and some of my work was lost. Now operating with a new hard drive, I don’t yet have the proper software to continue this writing.
While working on this piece of writing, I also did a quick (15-minute) sketch in gouache of Bowie (copied from one of his iconic photos). It is included below.
I also did a longer painting of Bowie, shown below. It was done in acrylic, gouache and pencil.
