This is a painting on a 30″ x 22″ canvas. Instead of using watercolor, which this kind of looks like, I painted this picture with brewed coffee. It is a portrait of my friend Mike, who is a coffee shop owner and roaster. The different values of color in the picture were achieved by using different types of coffee (and brewed at different strengths). For instance, the hair and beard were painted with espresso.
